Scheduling of Fees
Prior to commencing any treatment procedure you will be advised
of the total fee applicable for the treatment to be undertaken.
Most orthodontic procedures extend over a period of a few months
to up to two years and the fee for the service is spread over the
active treatment time.
A firm fee is advised before any treatment starts. The fee covers
the entire treatment including record taking and treatment planning,
fitting of the braces, regular adjustments, braces removal, fitting
of the retainers and the retention and observation period for two
years thereafter. It does not cover any procedures performed by
your general dentist, periodontist or other specialist if required.
For someone undergoing a full complete treatment involving upper
and lower braces the payment schedule is spread over an eighteen
month period commencing on the first of the month after the braces
are fitted.
This payment period can be modified if necessary for you to gain
the most benefit from your health fund or for taxation purposes.
This can be discussed at your treatment planning appointment and
arrangements can be made to suit you better.
Payment Options
- 25% deposit followed by equal quarterly payments (at no interest)
- Courtesy up front discount for payment in full at the commencement
of treatment. If full payment of the total fee is made by cheque
or cash at the commencement of treatment a 5% reduction of the
fee is given. For credit card payments a 4% reduction of the fee
is given.
- Taxation claim - To take advantage of the taxation rebate
of 20% if your concessional expenditure exceeds $1500 then you
might prefer to pay the full amount in one financial year. This
is particularly relevant if one does not have any dental insurance.
- Dental Health Funds - Currently, the Health Funds offer
some rebate on orthodontic treatment with both annual and total
treatment (lifetime) limits. You should consult with your fund
to obtain the current level of rebate and where possible our fee
schedule will be structured to allow you the maximum rebate. For
a complete course of treatment the appropriate item number for
health fund claims is Item 881.
